                                                    Local Talent Under 25
"Summer (Mostly) Thursdays" continues with home-grown rising musical stars Daniel Gilbert, Nori Perrine, and Yazmin.

Daniel is a second year student of the University of Minnesota, Morris studying Guitar Performance and Piano Performance. Additionally, he is interested in Musicology and Music Therapy. Dan is an active performer locally and regionally and will be presenting three classical pieces (Capricho Arabe by Francisco Tarrega; Prelude in D Minor by J.S. Bach; Sweet Kate by Robert Jones) and two contemporary pieces (Drifting by Andy McKee and White River Walkabout by Andrew Noyes.

Yazmin is a pianist and vocalist from Washburn who has been performing and playing music all her life. She has studied many forms of music including Classical, Celtic and Afro-Cuban. She has released one CD with her Latin dance band, "La Banda Nueva," and her new EP (extended play) album "Solo" is now available through online stores including iTunes, Amazon, and CDbaby. She will be performing a set of mostly original songs, best described as indie-pop with an occasional Latin twist.

Nori is an accomplished violinist with eclectic taste. She began studying violin at the age of four with Mary Bondeson at the Harmony School of Music in Washburn. She then followed her great love for Celtic music, traveling across the United States and to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia studying fiddle. Her unique style transcends genres. Although she loves to play traditional Celtic music, you are just as likely to find her jamming with the likes of Corey Carlson or Randy Sabien or performing with a symphony orchestra. Nori has been composing tunes for many years and is currently working on recording her first CD. She will be performing a mixture of traditional and original celtic fiddle tunes accompanied by local celtic guitarist Tom Draughon, Heartistry Music.

This concert is sponsored in part by the Family of Mary Dobson and the Apostle Island Area Community Fund of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. There is no admission charge, but free will offerings are encouraged and gratefully accepted.
