“Summer (Mostly) Thursdays”
c/o Bayfield Presbyterian Church 306 Washington Ave Bayfield, WI 54814 715-779-5490 715-682-3272
Thursday, July 14, 5:00-615 p.m.
Le Chateau Boutin, 7 Rice Avenue
Life is a Cabaret
"Summer (Mostly) Thursdays" continues with Kathleen Otterson (Mezzo soprano) and Sam Black (piano).
"Poets and composers through the centuries have commented in word and music about life, love, and laughter," says Otterson, who will present an evening of music in the cabaret style – from Haydn to Gershwin and on into the new century. Enjoy the wit of Cole Porter, the haunting melodies of Schubert and Haydn, the humor of William Bolcom and Christine Lavin, and the deep thoughts of Kurt Weill – to name just a few. The Music Room at Le Chateau Boutin provides the perfect backdrop for music intended for an intimate space. "Life is a Cabaret" - so goes the song.
Kathleen Otterson lives and works in Madison, but is happy to take her "show on the road" especially if it means a trip to the Chequamegon Bay area. No stranger to local audiences, Kathleen appears frequently in Bayfield summer concerts and has sung at Stage North and Northland College. In Madison, she teaches voice and directs choirs at Edgewood College and is Director of Music at Christ Presbyterian Church. In addition, Kathleen maintains a busy voice studio in her home.
This concert is sponsored in part by the Family of Mary Dobson and the Apostle Island Area Community Fund of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. There is no admission charge, but free will offerings are encouraged and gratefully accepted. A modest reception follows the concert. Please call 715-682-3272 or 715-779-5490 for more information.
