Thursday July 28, 5:00-615 p.m.
Bayfield Presbyterian Church, 306 Washington Avenue
The Best of the Bay
"Summer (Mostly) Thursdays" continues with a treasure trove of local musical gems: flutists Dorothy Richmond and Barbara Moldenhauer; organist Bob Lindell; soprano Amanda Shuga; and the Hand Chime Quartet of Ann Marie Johnson, Myra Bliss, Ernest Bliss, and Jeff Johnson.
Hear Albinoni's tender Adagio and a variety of flute music by Telemann, Debussy, and Gossec as well as sacred vocal works including schubert's sublime Ave Maria and a setting of Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Weber. The "King of Instruments," the organ, will then take center stage with dramatic works by Manz, Lindberg, and Guilmant. Traditional folk songs also grace the program along with a Grand Finale of Beethoven's Ode to Joy arranged to include for flute, hand chimes, and organ.
This concert is sponsored in part by the Family of Mary Dobson and the Apostle Island Area Community Foundation. There is no admission charge, but free will offerings are encouraged and gratefully accepted. A modest reception follows the concert. Please call 715-682-3272 or 715-779-5490 for more information.
